Assistance dogs in rental properties!

Good morning all, just thought I would quickly discuss a situation that I have been speaking with one of our clients about. A Rental Provider is wanting to deny permission for an assistance dog. The answer is very much a definite No you can not say no to an assistance dog, they do not fall under the requirements to seek permission as a pet - they are not seen as a pet. The Disability Discrimination Act which is Commonwealth legislation protects a person with a disability in these situations and ensures that a renter requiring an assistance dog is not required to seek approval and is not required to even notify the property owner that they have an assistance dog.
