Minimum standards

Howdy. Re Minimum standards Victoria.

Does an owner have to complete a minimum standards checklist and sign it (like the disclosure) or is it merely a checklist that anyone can complete at the property?

Hi Olivia, the legal requirement is that minimum standards are met, there is no legal requirement to complete a checklist, however, I would suggest that it is best practice to complete a checklist and store on file. You are required to disclose if the Standards are not met, and a checklist will help you with the disclosure. There are certain minimum standards that the owner and agent may not be qualified to answer so in discussion agent and owner need to determine if these should be confirmed by a qualified person. As agents we have a legal responsibility to ensure to the best of our ability the RRP is aware of and following their responsibilities. Hope this helps.
