Data breach and real estate
During our risk sessions we always speak about privacy and with the recent data breaches occurring (ie. Optus, Medicare etc) we have been discussing the importance of safe storage of data, and what should we keep copies of as opposed to just ticking that it has been sighted. They are questions that each office should be considering and this article highlights that point, given the ID was stolen after being provided to an estate agent, we must take this issue seriously. The federal government has introduced legislation to parliament to increase the maximum fines for allowing unauthorised access of data to $50 million. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-10-27/identity-theft-warning-after-optus-medibank-hack/101576992?utm_campaign=abc_news_web&utm_content=link&utm_medium=content_shared&utm_source=abc_news_web&fbclid=IwAR1y33Gea6iv-_eeVdqJbiMWnyrWDk97xdnp_kYKB-44_x9zE0qkV-Rg1E8
